Does anyone here do glassblowing? Any tips for a complete novice?
I will be taking a 2-hour intro to glassblowing class this weekend and would appreciate any tips or advice. I’ve never done this, but visited the Fenton Art Glass plant in WV this summer and been completely fascinated since. It was a joy to watch those craftsmen and I just have to try it. I sure would appreciate any advice you might be able to provide. Thanks!
I’ve done a little scientific glassblowing, and have shown some students the basics. I’m sure they’ll give you a good introduction before letting you loose, but one thing to always, always bear in mind: even if the glass is no longer red hot, consider it hot. It’s *so* easy to want to reach for a piece you’ve just blown, or a piece just out of the oven, and it’s a really bad idea….
